Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talking therapy which has been shown to be an effective treatment for a wide range of emotional, behavioural and physical health problems.
CBT takes a problem, no matter how seemingly large and unwieldy, and breaks it down into changes in the way we think, feel and behave. We then use the techniques of CBT to tackle each problem area specifically. This then leads to improvement in the problem overall.
CBT has been shown to be an effective treatment for a wide range of disorders and the evidence is still growing!
Here are just some of the problems that CBT can help with:
Social Anxiety
Panic attacks
Depression
Low self-esteem
PTSD
Childhood Trauma
OCD
Specific Phobias
Generalised Anxiety and Excessive Worry
EMDR Therapy
Just like CBT, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy which has been shown to be an effective treatment for Post-traumatic stress disorder and other anxiety based problems.
An increasingly popular treatment, EMDR uses “bilateral stimulation” to help you to process distressing memories which underlie any problems that you may be having.
Eye movements are one type of Bilateral stimulation. We also use tapping and sounds. EMDR uses this bilateral stimulation to activate the left and right parts of the brain. This is done while focusing upon the distressing memory and actually helps to “desensitise” you to the emotional and psychological distress tied up in the memory.
EMDR can help with:
PTSD
C-PTSD (Complex Trauma)
OCD
Specific Phobias
