Of course this all depends upon the type of problem that you are looking for help for and the treatment goals you have. Less severe problems that have only recently emerged can sometimes be remedied within 6 to 8 sessions, with more longstanding or complex problems sometimes requiring up to 20 sessions.
CBT and EMDR both aim to be “brief” therapies – that is, we aim to create meaningful change for you within a relatively brief time frame, and not to keep you in therapy for longer than you need to be. We will tell you how many sessions you can expect to need at the first assessment session and we will let you know if we feel that CBT or EMDR is not the right type of therapy for you.
